Gray Lace Bags

Gray Lace Bags

Ghost print of the lace used on the denim in previous post. I always have something handy – or find something fast! – to use the last of anything. This material was once worn as a working man’s uniform trousers. Sturdy stuff. I liked the incongruity of the lace on the durable fabric that was already carelessly paint splotched with the blue. (See, it does look blue here! A previous post would tell why I couldn’t resist this comment.) These bags could also be further painted or embellished but I’ll leave that decision for someone else. Grunge bags for brushes or long tools, paper rolls or knitting needles. Available in my Etsy Shop.

Long one – SOLD

Paisley Lace Progress

Paisley Lace Progress

This isn’t the only thing I’ve been doing, thank goodness, this is just to show I haven’t forgotten you! My stamina and patience did not extend to embroidering around all the dots, but they needed a bit more definition. Here I am enhancing them with a touch of black acrylic with the handle end of a paint brush. This is now in line for the sewing machine and might become something useful some day.

Paisley Lace Denim

Paisley Lace Denim

Best title I can think of for now. This piece is in progress now at my living room chair. I’m adding hand embroidery. As often happens, I wandered from my original intention of doing something quick and easy by paint and machine. (Ha. Dreams.) This started by laying painted lace on denim. I usually have no idea what I’m going to end up with; I just keep working on it until the bell rings in my head for “stop!”. It’s very heavy denim and with the paint adding to the stiffness I am actually using my thimble. I plan to make this a card holder/wallet but……..I’m actually in as much suspense as you are as to what it will be. Well, I’m sure the uncertainty won’t keep you from sleeping soundly tonight.
